Practise the French Defense: Advance Variation

In the Advance Variation of the French Defense (1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.e5) White pushes the e-pawn at once, gaining space and closing the centre. Play White's moves of the line from memory — 1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 — and the trainer plays Black's replies; "Play the other side" turns it around.

"Drill all" adds the 21 named lines that continue it, such as French Defense: Advance Variation, Paulsen Attack, French Defense: Advance Variation, Nimzowitsch System, French Defense: Advance Variation, Euwe Variation, French Defense: Advance Variation, Milner-Barry Gambit, French Defense: Advance Variation, Main Line, French Defense: Advance Variation, Milner-Barry Gambit, Main Line, French Defense: Advance Variation, Kupreichik Variation, French Defense: Advance Variation, Steinitz Variation.

Read about the line, its statistics on Lichess and Stockfish's evaluation on the French Defense: Advance Variation page, or pick another opening in the opening trainer.
