Practise the Grob Opening

The Grob Opening (1.g4), also called Grob's Attack or the Spike, is an unconventional first move that is widely considered one of the worst possible starts for White. Play White's moves of the line from memory — 1. g4 — and the trainer plays Black's replies; "Play the other side" turns it around.

"Drill all" adds the 19 named lines that continue it, such as Grob Opening: Grob Gambit, Grob Opening: Grob Gambit, Fritz Gambit, Grob Opening: Grob Gambit Declined, Grob Opening: Spike, Hurst Attack, Grob Opening: Spike Attack, Grob Opening: Keene Defense, Grob Opening: Double Grob, Grob Opening: Alessi Gambit.

Read about the line, its statistics on Lichess and Stockfish's evaluation on the Grob Opening page, or pick another opening in the opening trainer.
