Practise the Portuguese Opening

The Portuguese Opening (1.e4 e5 2.Bb5) is an uncommon opening in which White brings the king's bishop to b5 before developing the king's knight. Play White's moves of the line from memory — 1. e4 e5 2. Bb5 — and the trainer plays Black's replies; "Play the other side" turns it around.

"Drill all" adds the 2 named lines that continue it, such as Portuguese Opening: Portuguese Gambit, Portuguese Opening: Miguel Gambit.

Read about the line, its statistics on Lichess and Stockfish's evaluation on the Portuguese Opening page, or pick another opening in the opening trainer.
