Practise the Ruy Lopez

The Ruy Lopez, or Spanish Opening (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5), is one of the most deeply studied openings in chess. Play White's moves of the line from memory — 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 — and the trainer plays Black's replies; "Play the other side" turns it around.

"Drill all" adds the 232 named lines that continue it, such as Ruy Lopez: Morphy Defense, Ruy Lopez: Steinitz Defense, Ruy Lopez: Berlin Defense, Ruy Lopez: Classical Variation, Ruy Lopez: Exchange Variation, Ruy Lopez: Cozio Defense, Ruy Lopez: Bird Variation, Ruy Lopez: Morphy Defense, Caro Variation.

Read about the line, its statistics on Lichess and Stockfish's evaluation on the Ruy Lopez page, or pick another opening in the opening trainer.
