Practise the Ruy Lopez: Open
The Open Defence of the Ruy Lopez, 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O Nxe4, takes the e4-pawn: Black tries to use the time White needs to regain it to establish a foothold in the centre. Play Black's moves of the line from memory —
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. O-O Nxe4 — and the trainer plays
White's replies; "Play the other side" turns it around.
"Drill all" adds the 33 named lines that continue it, such as Ruy Lopez: Open, Main Line, Ruy Lopez: Open, Riga Variation, Ruy Lopez: Open, Italian Variation, Ruy Lopez: Open, Bernstein Variation, Ruy Lopez: Open, St. Petersburg Variation, Ruy Lopez: Open, Classical Defense, Ruy Lopez: Open, Skipworth Gambit, Ruy Lopez: Open, Howell Attack.
