Practise the Scotch Game: Classical Variation
The Classical Variation of the Scotch Game (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Bc5) puts immediate pressure on White's centralised knight, which at first is defended only by the queen. Play Black's moves of the line from memory —
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Bc5 — and the trainer plays
White's replies; "Play the other side" turns it around.
"Drill all" adds the 10 named lines that continue it, such as Scotch Game: Classical Variation, Intermezzo Variation, Scotch Game: Potter Variation, Scotch Game: Blumenfeld Attack, Scotch Game: Paulsen Attack, Scotch Game: Classical Variation, Millennium Variation, Scotch Game: Classical Variation, Blackburne Attack, Scotch Game: Meitner Variation, Scotch Game: Romanishin Variation.
