Practise the Scotch Game: Schmidt Variation

The Schmidt Variation is 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6, a main line of the Scotch Game. Play Black's moves of the line from memory — 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 — and the trainer plays White's replies; "Play the other side" turns it around.

"Drill all" adds the 3 named lines that continue it, such as Scotch Game: Mieses Variation, Scotch Game: Alekhine Gambit, Scotch Game: Tartakower Variation.

Read about the line, its statistics on Lichess and Stockfish's evaluation on the Scotch Game: Schmidt Variation page, or pick another opening in the opening trainer.
